Rival Clan Battles — 3v3 Strategy and Tactics

Win battles against ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan AI war parties: team composition, focus fire, and countering Clan styles.

How do rival Clan battles work?

Each enemy Clan’s war party fights the way that Clan is designed to: ThunderClan pressures directly, RiverClan adapts mid-fight, ShadowClan strikes from stealth, and WindClan tries to act first and end the fight early. The AI uses real timing mechanics, so expect powered-up attacks if you let a fight drag.

How do I counter each Clan style?

Enemy Clan Their plan Your counter
ThunderClan Direct pressure, heavy hits Out-sustain: defend timed turns, punish whiffed big attacks
RiverClan Adaptive technique swaps Commit hard to one element they can’t cover
ShadowClan Stealth strikes, debuffs Speed and detection — never let them control the tempo
WindClan Act first, rush down Bulk and break-windows — survive the opener, then burst

What party setup wins most fights?

Build around coverage and focus fire:

  1. Cover at least two elements across your three cats so every enemy weakness is hittable (see the combat system guide).
  2. Focus one enemy at a time — a 3v2 is far easier to control than three 1v1s.
  3. Keep one defensive or sustain option in your move set; Clan battles reward the side that still has resources in round three.
  4. Spend StarClan ancestor attacks to delete the enemy’s biggest threat, not to pad damage on a nearly-dead target.

Where do rival Clan battles happen?

They appear throughout the four Prophecy Mode campaigns as territory and story conflicts, and Skirmish Mode extends the same 3v3 rules to asynchronous battles against other players’ cats — your best practice ground, since human move sets are meaner than the AI’s.

Frequently asked questions

Do rival battles scale with my level?
Story battles are tuned to your campaign progress. Open-world predator fights are fixed to their territory — retreat is always an option.
Are there rewards for winning?
Reputation with your Clan and progression toward move unlocks; some story battles gate campaign chapters.
